The rings look round, not flat. You could use red wire or tubing.

slice rings off a small plastic pop bottle and paint them. plastic should be flexible enough to affix into position on the suit.

Maybe some clear fishtank tubing that you could put into shape and then paint with red clear coloured acrylic?

^^^ Actually I got some Glow in the dark tubing for bead bracelets its hollow, so you could put red wire thru it and keep the GITD feature and it would be bendy.
