KISS Meets the Phantom - Abner Devereaux custom head suggestions?

    Hi all,
I have a question regarding a custom Mego-scale Abner Devereaux (the villain from KISS Meets The Phantom) that I'm interested in making.. I've done pro wrestling customs for several years, mainly using the wrestling figures that Jakks Pacific produced so many years ago. As such, I've dabbled in sculpting a little bit here and there. I've wanted to create a Devereaux custom for a long time now but haven't really seen any heads that resemble the actor, Anthony Zerbe. My question is, is there an existing head (FTC, etc.) that could be used as a "base"? If I have to resculpt hair or whatever, thats no problem. Even if I have to sculpt one from scratch, then that's what I'll do, but it'd be much easier to find something that can be modified. Any suggestions?
I've been a long time admirer of the work and dedication that goes into this site, and thanks to all in advance.

Gee, I have been wondering the same thing. I have been planning a set of space monkeys and Abner figure for sometime myself however, I have never looked into an actual figure that looked like Anthony Zerbe. It b nice to have a few monkeys,Anthony Zerbe and a ditta display and why it hasn't been made is kinda puzzling.

Haha, I've always wanted to customize characters and playsets from the movie. The space monkeys, a playset of Abner's underground lab complete with a holding cell with orange "laser beam" bars to hold KISS captive, the Chamber Of Thrills characters... there's so many things that could be made from such a horrific movie!

This may seem like a long shot, but maybe the new Shame head (shown on the FTC post) could be modified.

We think it would be a SHAME if you missed out on this figure! Order Shame and the rest of Batman Classic TV Series 3 today! http://tinyurl.com/lxknayr

The Ditta display would be amazing! Don't forget a small, red talisman box to go with the figures. In addition to the 8 in Retro Mego figures you can use the three monster figures, Dracula, the Mummy and Frankenstein to boot. Ah, the possibilities would be great

You know, the hair would have to be redone a little bit, but the Shame sculpt actually could work.
And yes, the talisman - can't forget that! Also, if you're referring to the Mad Monsters assortment. I already have them, and that's pretty much one of the main reasons I started thinking about a KMTP playset.
It's been a while, too long, really, since I've customized or modded anything, but damn, this is getting my creative juices flowing again. Thanks for the suggestions, firestarcomics.

Years ago I bought a cheap miniature wooden box that had a glass top that you could add a picture or flower to on the lid. You could remove the glass part and add whatever you wanted to the shadow box lid. I thought of putting some logo KMTOTP type and sculpt the talismans, add a small satin pillow, paint glossy red and PRESTO! There are a few images floating of the talismans online and people who sell them. I always thought the Mego figures should come both with guitars and talismans. I would have packaged all the figures with a simple guitar and Peter with a drum sticks and a drum.

Here's an insane idea for the talismans... use transparent Sculpey (it's more like semi-opaque) to make the talismans. Then use craft foam (not transparent) to make the box inserts for the talismans. The kicker: take apart one of those LED candles and put the bulb, the circuit board and the CR-2032 battery inside the base of the box, under the box inserts and the talismans. Cut a small hole to accommodate the on/off switch. Now the talismans-in-a-box can light up! The circuit board is to make the light flicker a little.
