    Off-the-shelf flesh paint

I've been on a years-long search for the best flesh tone for Mego bodies. I just don't have enough color sense to mix my own, so I'm stuck with what I can buy.

    I've tried these:

    Ceramcoat- AC Flesh
    Ceramcoat - medium flesh

    Apple Barrel - Flesh
Model Master Acryl - skintone warm tint

    Folk Art - Skintone

By mixing the two Ceramcoats I'm able to get an acceptable match to a CTVT body, but I haven't seen anything that comes close to Mego flesh.

Have any of you found something that works better? Opinions?

I think Ceramicoat Medium Flesh is a good all-purpose tone for Caucasians. You can lighten it with off-white for some females, or add gray or brown to deepen it.

Ceramicoat also has a Dark Flesh which is pretty close (a little darker) to T2 "Mego Bronze."

I also have an old bottle of Studio Stain's Indian Flesh (not ethnically sensitive, I know), which is a warm rusty-bronze tone. It's a stain, but opaque, and has been very useful for deepening or warming up other skin tones.

These are all water-soluble acrylics. The two Ceramicoat colors have worked well for me. To me, FTC's resins seem pale & grayish. I see that Conan is darker/ruddier & more Megoesque.

I have had a lot of success using Testors paint # 1116CA Cream. Its an enamel paint useing for model cars but works real well on Megos.

I got some stuff called Reaper Miniatures Master Series paints. Specifically tanned highlight #RPR09045. Somebody on the museum here recommended it and I like it better than what I was using. www.nobleknight.com or I got mine from eBay.image.jpg

If you like the flesh tone used on my customs, use this: Testor's Model Masters Skin Tone Warm Tint-Acrylic. David Lee advised me of this years ago and I swear by it.

^ I have a good model shop nearby--I'll be sure to check this out, as I like Testors & it seems similar in color to the Medium flesh I mentioned.
