    Make-your-own swivel biceps?

I need the articulation of swivel biceps, but on skinny CTVT-style arms. So I am thinking of making some. Has anyone ever tried to make their own swivel biceps from a non-swivel arm? It will be under a shirt, so it doesn't have to look perfect. It just needs to be functional.

I am wondering if I can cut it, put a peg in one half and drill a peghole on the other side. But any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'd suggest taking a bigger one and carving/sanding it down to the size you want. Way easier than making the swivel...

Are the arms solid? I thought they were hollow inside?

        Hollow would be super fragile.

in regard to your question I have done this with doc mego bodies before.
mark a line around the bicep and then put four perdendicular marks on each "side" of this line
          cut on the line
use a straight edge to conect the marks making a + or x depending on how you view it
drill your holes at the center of these marks
I used small bolts that I cut the heads off
with the doc mego bodies they self tap

never tried this with the ctvt/figures inc bodies

I had the idea to put a tack nail thru a small piece of pipe, not plumbing pipe-more like the small evergreen plastic modeling pipe, then glue the pipe inside a hole drilled to size with the nail point sticking out, then drill a smaller hole in the other part and glue the nail in there. The nail will spin free inside the pipe. The flat head of the nail will hold it in place. Should work good at your larger scale.

            CCC.

Oh, I actually meant to update this thread...

At Hobby Lobby, I purchased some 5/32" aluminum tube and cut two pegs for the arms.
Then I cut the biceps in half, and drilled two holes (one at 5/32" and one at 1/8").
Jam the peg in the holes and viola... swivel biceps!

As Jim mentioned, the hardest part is getting the cuts precise and the drill holes aligned. On one of the arms I didn't quite line it up right, and while it still swiveled, it looked a little wonky.
