    Plasti-dip & negative/slush molding?

I've never used plasti-dip, but I have experience with negative plaster molds & slush-molding latex make-up appliances.

Can you do an open, negative mold and paint or slush plasti-dip into it, to make for example a mask or hat accessory?

How long does plasti-dip take to cure? How viscous is it?

Funny. I was just thinking the same thing. I have used plasti-dip on several applications (belts, hands, etc.) and love it. It cures in an afternoon in most cases and if you need to let detail show through, you can thin it and use several very thin coats as well. I was just talking to my brother about doing what you are talking about, either to duplicate boots or sculpt my own boots, mold them and then use plasti-dip in the mold to create the same type of thing you are talking about. If it works, it really opens up the opportunity to do some really unique boots, or, as you mentioned hats and other items.

For belts, plasti-dip works great. I just used an original Mego belt as a template and cut a base out of think cardboard (like on the back of a pad of paper) and then either cut shapes to add dimension to it (buckles, pouches, etc.) or whatever other embelishments, glue them in place and dip it in plasti-dip. Takes no time and you can make really cool, one of a kind custom belts.
