Casting a Dog - Any Tips?

Looking at some other cast animals, I think I have an idea on how to make the mold. But, I'm all for getting some tips from those who have done this.

    Thanks in advance.
    Hey! Check out the pictures.

I tried to cast my dog once. He didn't like it very much and the plastic got stuck in his hair.

The two-part mold would probably work pretty well. I think that's usually how they make the ones you see in dollar and craft stores, because you can often see a line around, from where the mold pieces come together. I found a link on Toymania - hope this helps.

Darn, beat me to a joke. :( I was going to say don't forget to poke some air holes.

As for the actual question, sorry I have no clue about casting! Hope you can find out what you need to and make a real cool dog.

He wouldn't sit still long enough to need air holes!

What scale do you need? Megoscale? Any particular dog breed?

I carved me a Mego scale Boxer. Well, to be honest, it turned out a touch big but it will still work.

When I did military models (white metal figures) if the figure was mounted the horse was cast in 4 parts -- head 1 part, body 2 halves, and tail. You could probably do the same thing.
Don't be sorry. How would you know? You've been watching MTV all your life.

Ah...a boxer. I might be able to help if it was a small dog, but it sounds like gman knows much more than me. Good luck! Please post the finished product; I'm interested to see it!
