    Mego Desktop Wallpapers Help

I have been working on a series of Mego-style desktop wallpapers and was wondering if anyone here could help me with some missing artwork.

My idea is to use comic art images that Mego would've used had there been a stricter style guide in place. While I admit there is a certain charm to the exact art on the Mego boxes/cards, I've always hated the crude, often hodgepodge look of the art they used. An blown up to full-screen resolution, they really suffer IMO.

I've managed to acquire some actual pages from 70s-era DC style guides, so I have most of the art I'm looking for, but the ones I am missing are the full-figure images of Supergirl, Shazam and Catwoman. If any one has super hi-resolution scans they are willing to provide me, post here or PM me.

Here are a couple of low-res samples to give an idea of what I'm going for.

Those are bloody brilliant. I hope you won't mind sharing the hi res versions later.

Man, I would KILL for the 70s style guide to which you refer.

Thanks, Hedji. My plan is to make them available here for free once I have 'em all done.

I only have a few random pages, but I love 'em because they are packed with the predominant superhero art of my youth. Some are color and on thicker glossy paper, and some are black and white on much thinner paper. I believe the color ones were used for color reference, as they have CMYK boxes on them and the black and white ones were (I think) used for cut and pasting into other artwork.

What 70's era guides are you referring to?

They are individual 8-1/2 x 11 sheets, color on glossy stock, b&w on thinner stock as referenced above. They look appropriately yellowed, and bear a 1975 copyright National Periodical Publications. It's my understanding that DC/NPP had a company called LCA to help them market their superheroes in the 70s, and these were a part of a packet sent out to licensees. There are a few examples of them on Jim Shooter's blog.

I have the 1st Wonder Woman and the one with GL, Flash and GA, and the Batman and Robin one, but in black and white, as well as a couple more Batman ones and a couple Superman ones. The Supergirl, Shazam and Aquaman ones on that site are the ones I would like super hi-res scans of if anyone has that art.

For more on LCA, there's this article on Plaid Stallions.

The art. For me, nothing beats this distillation of these characters down to their most iconic forms. Give me these images, and the toys, and I am good to go. I never read a Green Arrow book as a kid. But you give me this artwork, and I've got all I need to know to be a fan.
