I too can't wait to see what you come up with Jessica.Everything you've posted(that I've seen thus far)has been nothing but cool.
I have the Medicom figure displayed with my apes. He's on a pedestal that I made out of a block of wood & painted.I'ld love to get the big sideshow statue but I haven't seen too many of them around(other than ebay)...let alone finding one at a decent price is another thing all together. That is a big chunk of change to drop.

Jess, he looks alot like the scupted style of the old Addar/Aurora kits that are available fairly cheap now. perhaps heads and hands from one of those could be a help.

Not to be a wet blanket, but even at 8" to 10" tall this thing will not be cheap to mold and cast. I'm guessing anywhere from $75 to $100 for each casting. If you think I'm kidding, shop around here for resin heads that go for $10 to $15 a pop. And they are easy to cast.

I just saw this on e-bay -- maybe someone could cast this?

Wow. That's pricey! What if it were cast hollow? Would that make it any cheaper?

Medicom made a figure called "the greatest ape" in the POTA line. It is a figure of the lawgiver statue. It is appropriately scaled to the medicom apes so it's about 7.5 inches tall ( since the lawgiver is larger than ape size) or so. It is very mego like in character and displays with them well. You can find them on ebay for $20/30 bucks.

To make the casting hollow could make it cheaper. But then it would have to be roto cast. As for hydrospaning something like this, well it's not for beginers. Ask any of the other casters that do hydrospan heads. Sometimes it just doesn't work the first or third try. I can tell right from the start this project will cost at least a $125 worth of rubber. That is IF everything goes well the first pours. Not trying to discourage you, just being honest.

At $20 to $30, personally I would just buy the one on ebay.

Why even go thru all the trouble of casting it, you'd be better off just buying him. You'd save the mold making process, the casting and the painting, etc.

A 15" - 16" Lawgiver statue would be too big...

Well, we gave it a shot, and so far aren't out anything financially. That is the beauty of this place. You can run ideas around and see what the pros think. Thanks everybody.
