    Latest Sewing Accomplishment

    Hello there.

    Welp, this is very minor.
But i was extremely proud of myself with this one.
With minor guidance from my mother, I was able to sew my first jacket.
Keep in mind, I'm still getting used to this sewing thing.
I think version 1.0 turned out pretty good.

Once I get home tonight I'm going to make another for my Indy and I'll post more pictures of him and the coat.

    Thanks for looking
    -Sean

That looks great Sean! Sewing real clothes is way harder than sewing a spandex suit and you really did a nice job.

Looks good, I know how hard it is.
I can only do things like that by hand sewing, my hat is off to all that use a machine.

I would trim down the neck collar a bit, other than that it looks pretty good!

That looks exactly like the material I used to make my Rocketeer jacket!

I know lol. Your Rocketteer is what gave me the inspiration to attempt this rather then outsourcing. And I already have the parts to make my own

Question, what sewing machine are you using? Is it something that's made especially to do fine work? Any time I've tried using the machine that my mother has it goes way to fast to control for such small work.

You have to control the speed with the foot pedal. It takes some practice. The switch in the food pedal is variable like a dimmer switch.

I'm just using a handed down singer sewing machine. NOTHING fancy by any means. This fabric was super easy to sew, but comparing it to spandex is night and day different. I don't have the patience for hand sewing lol. I've always used a machine. As for the speed of the machine, it's similar to driving a car. If you stomp on the pedal, it'll take off, if you baby the pedal then it's easier to manage.
