I'm at my wits end on this one. I have washed it, used color remover, used the stove-top method, let it sit all night in dye all in an attempt to dye a light tan body suit red. All I've managed to do at this point is to dye the suit a very light peachy-pink. I've used vinegar for synthetics added to the dye, I even tried salt for cotton. Any help would be appreciated.

I had the same problem.I was trying to dye light brown CTVT bodysuits black.I thought going from light brown to black would not be a problem and i tried everything just like you did.I ended up with dark grey bodysuits. For some reason they would not dye to the color i wanted and i ended up having to buy the suits in black. -
I have seen this somewhere on youtube, but haven't tried it. Supposedly a little acetone and a drop of dish soap helps the RIT dye penetrate the synthetic fibers. There are also a plethora of dyes made specifically for synthetic fabrics.Comment

I am really interested in this subject.
Years ago I had a tan CTVT suit that stopped at grey instead if black. I had trouble dyeing DM white shorts too.
Another time, I was successful dying a white CTVT to bright orange.
Last weekend I tried to dye Doc's light purple pants navy, and after a couple of days, I hand washed them and all the dye came right off. I even added acetone to the mix, and nothing.Last edited by BATMAN89; Feb 28, '14, 8:44 AM.Comment

There's a ton - my best advice is to google polyester dyes or dyes for synthetic fabrics and read up on them. Dave Lee found a brand that worked really well on the Castaway suits but I can't remember what it's called.Comment
