Remove Line from Mattel Shazam Boots?

Is there a non-destructive way to remove the dashed black line from the ReMego Mattel Shazam boots?

If the gold color is cast into the boot and the line just painted on,some fine rubbing/polishing compound would probably work to remove the line.

the boots are painted, too. I bet some weaker nail polish remover would take it off and leave the paint. Mine are starting to get tacky like all painted vinyl stuff in Florida

That stinks. I had some decent ideas for the FC Doom pieces ruined by that. You'd think in 2014 they'd figure out the chemical reactions with this stuff. I've got JLU figures I need to quarantine too.

the doom stuff shrinks well in an acetone bath and I reused some parts for my custom DOOM.

Is it possible that these boots were painted with enamel gold spray paint? Anyone else have tacky gold paint Mattel 'Shazam' boots?

^^^ I'll have to check. My figure is in storage. My Doctor Doom/Famous covers is definitely tacky/sticky tho. Has been since a few years ago.
