I have a few orig Mego figs that have some wrinkly cloths. I'm thinking that if I iron them, they'd look a lot nicer. Since they're original figs, I figured I'd ask here if anyone has tried this, and whether or not it's a good idear...

Is ironing Mego clothes a good idea?

Be very careful--most Mego clothing is synthetic polyester knit or nylon and is sensitive to heat. It melts/scorches easily.
Some of the "civilian clothing" is cotton, which is more heat tolerant.
Use an iron on med-low heat. ALWAYS use a pressing-cloth over the clothing--an old handkerchief works well. Dampen the hanky slightly and the steam from it will do most of the work in pressing out wrinkles.
I also use a towel underneath as a block, when I iron suitsWANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses. -
Excellent! Thanks a bundle PN! I have a brown suit Zira, & her top is a little wrinkly. My Olive Zira is near mint, & looks soo much better. I want the rarer variant to look as nice. Also, my Virdon vest is wrinkly too... I'll probably practice on the Virdon vest before I try the rare suit Zira.Galaxy ExplorerComment

Those are all cotton I think, including the burlap vest-- except for the pleather (bonded vinyl) trim on Zira's top.
You can also try ironing the front flap of her top from the wrong side (inside).WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.Comment

"Ironing from the inside"... Yet another great idea. I'll turn the piece over, so as not to touch the pleather, and put a moist handkerchief between the cloth & the low temp iron. Thanks again!Galaxy ExplorerComment
