    Material for boxes

The recent thread on backer cards made me start looking into options for the material used to make boxes.

I am working on a project for my daughter (a jpop character she likes) and have made a backer card for her. But now I want to try a box.
I have designed one and can print it out no problem, but can't find a cardboard that's the right thickness. (have tried Michael's and online searches so far)

Cardstock and oaktag (posterboard?) aren't thick enough. Googling it tells me maybe I need something called "paperboard" - the type of thing used to make cereal boxes or other retail packages.

Anyone know where one can actually buy some of this material? (preferably in white)

(BTW - for my backer cards - I am printing them on photo paper and pasting it to a comic backing board - comes out nice)

You might want to try white cake boxes that are sold at craft stores like Michaels.

Thx for the idea. I'll try that out.

Got a "robe-size" box (11x17) at Michaels. I used spray adhesive to attach my printed out box printout (glossy paper) and it looks like it will work.
I actually later saw 3 "robe" boxes for $2.50 on sale at Target and picked up a few of those (the single Michael's box was $1.50). The Target ones seem a slight bit thinner, but that may work even better as my 1st attempt was quite sturdy. (maybe too sturdy)

I use Walmart posterboard for my custom boxes and have been happy with the results.
