    I used to put the actual strands of hair in the needle and pull them through the "scalp". When I did that with curly hair, it got very frizzy. I've been using thread to make a loop, and the strand of hair goes through the loop, pulling only a tiny bit of the hair goes into top of the scalp. Does that make sense? Also, if you're doing an Afro, I'd buy braiding hair, for that frizzy look. It will probably stand up better than others.
