    Hair dye

What's the best way (if any) to color the hair on a female mego head?

I need blue (or teal) hair for a character my daughter is interested in.

reroot would be the best way, dyes would end up bleeding into the pvc head, too.

I think you will need to re-root the head with blue hair. Bizarro Amy made one for me, and her work is phenomenal. You can check it out in this old thread:

My son has become obsessed with this fun little cartoon called "Dex Hamilton - Alien Entomologist." So for his 5th birthday, I decided I would surprise him with custom Dex Hamilton action figures. The Case I really felt this project needed some packaging to bring it all together... but little kids aren't

thanks for the responses, the color of Jenny's hair in your thread is just about right for what I need.

Any guides to rooting hair around?

Ok, apparently before I click Reply, I need to refresh the page and make sure TBolt hasn't already said it.

                Oops.

                    Hmmmm....

I think for hair you almost always have to go with a reroot. Dyes have to soak in to work, and doll hair isn't porous plastic at all. Any colour change would be extremely fragile.

For rerooting, I use cheapie Halloween wigs. Cut the strands off and you're good. Expect some extra vaccuming when you're done though.

I just finished my first reroot and if you're willing to put in some time it's not that hard, after the first bit you get used to the process and it's not bad.

yeah, its just slightly tedious, I've done two roots and have a third planned.

I'm glad you decided to try it. I keep telling people it's not that hard and they don't believe me.
