Do you "convert" your vintage figures?

Not quite a discussion of customs (more like kitbashing), but do you convert your vintage T1 figures to T2s?

I do. I was lucky enough to get a Long Silver with a unique T2 peg-leg, so I converted my other super-pirates.

Likewise AmWest and POTA, although I held out for T2 knights (darn armor).

With Mad Monsters, they're so sweet, I have both types.

Just curious if anyone else likes to do this with loose figures.
WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.

I do, I prefer T2 for everything. Did it with a Tarzan and Captain Marvel.

My first conversion I did when I was a Kid. I bought a Removable cowl Batman when I was 7(1972). The T1 body broke so I replaced it with a T2. But I still consider it my original RC Batman.

I actually prefer the T1 body. I don't know why. I originally had both versions when appropriate but have thinned the collection as space has become less.
It's not a doll it's an action figure.

I prefer the T2 body but also like a hybrid of the T1 torso and then T2 arms and legs. Still one of the most beautiful retro fittings was using a Castaway body in place of a Mego body. They just look so much more poised and heroic.

I have done this with several of my figures, I prefer the look of the joints and overall sculpt of the Type 2... but in my opinion, there are some that just look better with the thinner body... like the Joker or Robin.

In some cases I've even spliced together a few patchwork bodies. For my Robin & Spider-Man, I put T2 arms and legs on a T1 body, while the Joker is a T1 figure with T2 arms. For a few others, like Superman & Captain America, I've replaced the upper arms with cast-a-way ones, to allow them the extra range of motion needed for some poses. CA can now salute and supes stands with his hands on his hips.

^How do you do that mix-n-match, Jim? It seems to me the sizing of the armholes/hipholes is not compatible...

You know I never really thought about it too hard but they just seem to work. It may be the way and type of elastic that I use to restring 'em in this Frankenstein manner.

I prefer the T2 bodies and sold off extra T1's but i kept and may sell off a set of the original 4 and a Green Arrow of T1's but with some repo parts.

In cusomizing, over all, I use repro and original T2 Mego parts (DrMego and CTVT).
Sadly, I missed my chance at any Cast A Way's products.

I know you weren't asking me... but the arms have the same size shoulder ball, so nothing extra is necessary to keep them in place.

However... The hip ball on the T2 is smaller, and may need a little something to keep the legs from slipping into the pelvis farther than you may like. This can also result in them being a little floppy. What I've done with a couple, is to wrap a little electrical tape around the pelvis section between where the legs will sit. not a lot, but enough to create a bit more friction on the hips when pulled into the socket.

Thanks for the suggestion--I was thinking something needed adapted.
