Question about creating a new articulation point on old bodies (swivel arms)

    Hello!

I am working on a Star Trek animation project with mego dolls. One aspect of the show involves musical interludes where the characters start playing instruments and singing. I love the new swivel arm bodies that Emce makes, they will be great, but I don't really want to replace all of my old bodies (and the Star Trek guys have the built in booties) so I am thinking of taking some sort of big *** cutters and just cutting the old arms (where the swivel arms are cut on the new ones) and then inserting a wire into a drilled hole to make them swivel inwards and outwards. Anyone tried this? Any tips for what to buy to cut them? Big *** garden shears or small bolt cutters? Thanks!

That's funny, I was going to buy a Dremel sander today! Do they make a mini saw or what tool are you thinking of (I have no knowledge of them)?

Dremel is a multipurpose tool. You buy the additions: sanding cutting drilling.

Or a fine hobby saw. I have done what you are talking about, and use dowels for the swivel. You just have to use the right size drill bit to make the hole for the dowel.

Bought a Dremel. The arm melted a bit but just shaved that off , sanded it, drilled a small hole, inserted a cut nail, done! Just like the new bodies.
