    How to remove rooted hair?

I have an extra CTVT female head that I want to remove the hair from and try rerooting it to a different color - what's the best way to remove the existing hair?

Cut the hair as short as possible, then use small tweezers to remove the plugs gently from the inside

Or a small screwdriver, just turn it around inside the head and it will get most of the plugs out.

I thought about doing that, but I'm paranoid I'd split the scalp

This is what I do, too. If it is rooted very closely (like on a vintage Inv. Girl's part), the scalp may still split. But on most CTVT heads, the rooting is sparse enough that this should not be a problem.

CTVT/FTC would do well IMO to sell some bald female heads for rerooting projects.

This is how I have always done it and it works great. If the scalp does split, I have used clear thread or even the hair I am using to re-root to sew the split shut again. It will be un-noticeable when you are done re-rooting. Good luck!

After it's cut down I use a hook a rug tool. It has a "J" hook. You scrape it around the inside pulling the hair out. It's quick and you don't have to see what you're doing.

I had suggested dipping the top of the head in acetone. The head swells a little and you can just pull the hair right out.
