Makerbot's 3D Scanner

Makerbot a company that makes "affordable" 3D printers have announced a new 3D scanner that is now available to order:

It can scan object up to 8" in size. Sounds perfect for Megos! I'll be curious when they start shipping to hear the reviews. But if is does a good job, it could be quite a boon to making custom action figures.

Funny you posted this thread yesterday as this printer was on our morning news. This one is pretty phenomenal and uses plastic cord or ribbon to make the parts. They look good, really good. None of those little lines. Here is the Google forum for my area..
