fabric question

What's a good fabric to use for most super-hero costumes? I know some looks would take special fabrics... but say I'm doing a uniform for someone like Spider-Man or Blue Beetle...

I started with that idea but soon realized that since I like to stretch out the material to fit and accentuate the body parts, over time the stretched stayed permanent and made the material baggy. Went with Spandex/lycra instead. But I still use Tees for some projects.
