Planet Of The Apes box extentions and other apes stuff

I've been doing Apes stuff for people lately. I've always thought about extending the Ape boxes to include the listed characters on the side but was always hung up about not being able to completely match the side photo with the one I had to make to go on the back. Well, I got over that hangup and have a Dr. Zaius picture that while it doesn't completely match up with the original photo, Zauis still has that Saturday Night Fever John Travolta pose and that's good enough for me:



Then there are the customs that an Apes fan has done and the boxes made for him (some have been seen here before, but not without the figures inside)

You have a way of capturing the feel of the original Mego lines with your extention artwork, without just reworking what was done. Very cool.

How did you go about making them? Did you get existing astronaut suits?

Just to clarify, the actual custom figures are not mine, I only did the boxes. From what I heard from him, he mainly used the CTVT Space:1999 suits made available in white for Escape Corny and Zira.

He took the pictures of the figures I used for the back of the boxes (I just added Mego style backgrounds to Taylor and Nova. As a nice touch, he actually took pictures of Astronaut Corny and Zira on a beach.
