Help with changing LJN legs for Mega Star Trek ones

Title says it all. I've got an LJN Deacon figure that I want to put the booted Star Trek legs onto. Any advise?

If it is strung together like the type 1 LJN you should be able to restring it with type 1 Mego legs.
