    ideas for STEEL's costume

hi all. I'm struggling with a way to approach this costume.Steel 01 18-1.jpg
so far I have a red bodysuit and blue shorts and boots.
I considered painting the white section onto the red suit, or maybe cutting some white fabric and gluing it onto the red suit then gluing the star emblem onto that.
the white section is fairly tricky as it's mirrored on the back. to keep it symmetrical would I want to make a template?
I don't want to use craft foam because I want the suit to be flat and all one piece.
I also have a blue suit that I can paint red and white- that was my first idea.
please keep in mind that I can't sew!

Ideal EK style. Red suit andblue trunks, then print out the chest and back design on printer cloth. Sew or glue onto bodysuit. or use satin ribbon and sew/glue that on.

Printer cloth is like paper for a printer but made of cloth. You can get it at AC Moore and other places like that. I would use fabric and fabric paint. It's not as clean but easier to do. Picture the front and back design like a diamond with the head hole cut in the center. Paint it up, tuck the top and bottom of the diamond into blue trunks over a red body suit, add a white belt and some trimmed down repro Batman boots with a white stripe and your done. I used the same method for the suit on my Nightcrawler.
It's not a doll it's an action figure.

                    Thanks for the info.
I'm leaning toward the painting on fabric approach. Nice visual with the diamond by the way

Stuff gets easier to reproduce when you break it down to pieces. Together it looks complicated but apart it's just X's and O's.
