    Muscle Body Questions???

Has anyone done dye job on Doc Mego's muscle body? Just curious how well dye takes and best process. Also, any comparison pix between Doc muscle body versus CTVT's muscle body? I've read that Doc's muscle body is larger. Any additional info would be appreciated before jumping into purchasing one or the other. Thanks!

I've managed to dye a DM body black with great success. Green, however is another story. Haven't tried other colors yet.

DM bodies have longer legs making them more height appropriate to the other 8" bodies. Also, wrist and ankle articulation are present.

CTVT are the short hulk bodies from Mego with no ankle and wrist articulation. I'm sure some folks have photos to compare the height difference.

My favorite is the custom Muscle torso from Lonnie Fisher with the swivel articulation on the waist, making the body slightly taller than the DM body.

Thanks Ed! I'm thinking of Hulk custom, so I'm curious if anyone has had success dyeing Doc's muscle body green or not.

For my hulk custom, I used a Doc body to color it, I used Krylon Fusion spray paint for plastics. The color was called Spring Green and it matches the Mego hulk color almost to a T. But I'd recommend taking the body apart and spraying the body one piece at a time. And allow adequate time for it to fully dry (the can recommends 7-10 days) otherwise it'll be tacky to the touch and never dry.

Here is the photo of Brian Leitner's version which I think came out great.

It is dyed but came out too dark according to what he said and the rivets don't take the dye well so he painted those.

Another option, as Link mentioned, is the paint method, either acrylic with a sealant or plastic/vinyl fusion paint from Krylon, Dupli-color or VHT.

Thanks for asking this question. I was just wondering the same thing. I've got to try the Kylon Fusion paint.

                  Those look great, Link.
My only concern is the runs hence why I didn't go the fusion paint route but will try again when the weather gets warmer around here.

Here is a photo of Lonnie Fisher's torso. I believe this how MEGO should have made it.

^ The holes on the wrist are pretty wide and the ankles are too big compared to a standard T2 Mego body. So no, but, you can mod the pieces to make them work with some magic sculpt and an exact-o knife.

The torso is made from the same plastic as the pins. It won't take dye either.

I dyed one red an d it came out ok. It's not a deep red but it works.

The regular hands/feet would be really small on this body.

Thanks again Seattle Ed. Saved me a purchase. Have to hold out for Human Wolfman [the customiser god he is] to sell me one of his SICK type 3 bodies.

....but it does okay with paint. You might have to use a harsher brand.... like the Krylon Fusion stuff.... if it's gonna get played with; and that makes matcing it to the dyed limbs tricky.
