I recently came across some dolls from Dollar General that might be useful to some people. In the picture below is the doll in question and next to it is the non-articulate CTVT body. They are label as 8" but only because of their big head. The body measures 6.25" vs the 6.75" for the CTVT body.
What's interesting is the areas of movement. Unlike the CTVT ones the arms not only go up and down but spread outwards like in the picture. The legs also have a hidden joint at the knees that moves 2 clicks forward and 2 clicks back. From an appearance standpoint the legs look much better than the articulate bodies when using a short dress or short pants. It doesn't however pivot at the waist line like the CTVT one.
The feet are slightly bigger which can also be an advantage as they fit many of the men's boots and shoes better.
The clothes aren't bad either. Nothing special but a nice pair of blue jeans and other pants, skirts, etc. along with a few basic tops as well.
Attaching a mego head took a little work as it doesn't have the standard neck plug but it wasn't hard to modify the head attachment it comes with.
But wait...there's more.
Each comes with a pretty good looking pair of sneakers...looks like high top converse in a variety of colors depending on the doll.
And of course the best part is they are only $1.
