I am new to the whole custom thing and I am curious if anyone can give me some tips/answers to a couple of questions.
1) I would really like to have a reasonably detailed command chair for my Kirk figure. Or at least buy one from somewhere on line. I hear that the 40th anniversary figures they did a few years back work pretty well, but that their size may be a bit off (also, they seem a bit pricey). I am open to buying a custom made one on line if the price is right, but can't find one at present. I'd consider making one from a repro of the original Mego chair from the Enterprise play set, but can't find the repros available at the moment (Castaways site says they are unavailable) and I don't think I could bring myself to altering an original for this purpose. Any suggestions, tips, or even building plans anyone has would be appreciated. Or any sites that sell something like this that maybe I just haven't found yet.
2) As far as enlarging something for custom mold making, (this is all completely uncharted territory for me) to make play sets and/or accessories, would it be possible to take an old model kit that has figures about 1-1/2 to 2" tall and enlarge this to fit the 8" Mego line? Assuming of course the model is fairly detailed, this seems like it would be possible. So far on the site all I can find is instructions to enlarge heads to fit different body sizes. Would these methods transfer to what I am looking to do?
