Changing color of Batmans cape

I am intrested in makeing a custom Mego Space Ghost. He has a yellow cape which Robin could donate if I had a spare one but I do not. I do have a blue Batman cape. Can It be dyed yellow, or should I just get a trashed Robin for the cape?

I would go to JoAnn Fabrics or a craft store and just by some yellow fabric. There is a pattern somewhere here at the museum for a Space Ghost cape.
