New method for repairing broken knees and elbows!

I just repaired a Thing figure using this idea and it worked fantastic! The elbow pin was broken, but all there.

I bought a pack of small party balloons (the long tube kind) and using the orange balloon, cut a rubber "sleeve" by trimming off the end of the stem and just below the balloon flare.

Slid the rubber sleeve over the entire arm, covering the elbow joint. One end should fall on the mid-bicep and the other on the mid-forearm. This "skin" is nice and tight and holds the entire joint-pin assembly together with no glue.

The joint still moves and the costume covers it completely. The balloon is so thin it's invisible beneath the clothes.

I was wondering how I could tighten up the knees of a Dinah I got recently. This just might work.

I have a technique for tightening up the female mego knees and it has worked perfectly every time. Makes the knee joints like new. I bend the leg at the knee and using a pair of tongs, dip the knee (just the knee, not the whole figure or even the leg) into a pot of boiling water for about 30 seconds. I then pull it out and clamp it with a small clamp I bought @ Home Depot for less than a dollar. The clamp has the strength of one of those black binder clips so it puts pressure on the knee but is covered in bright green silicon so it doesn't slip off the knee. The knee is semi pliable from the boiling water and the clamp tightens it right back up. I have used this method on Dinah, Zira, Waltons, etc about 10 times and it absolutely works great for me every time!

            Even better!

I just hate going to the Home Depot in my neighborhood; it's hard to get to and the bus leaves you a good five blocks away from it.

I could always order it online though.

            What size is the clip?

The clip is about 2" long and maybe 1/2" wide. Silver with bright green on the "handles" and the clamp tips. I guarantee you will be sold on this technique if you try it.
