Finally procured an ever-so-slightly-out-of-scale Dragun head for my first "real" kit-bash custom. I need to adjust his cape a bit, and get stickers printed up, then I can post more pics.

Is that a resin shrink or an actual factory produced plastic head?It's not a doll it's an action figure. -
It's from this old Popy toy:
I kinda hated destroying the toy, but I thought it might be perfect for this project. The figure is actually only 5" but the head was over-sized for the figure. It's just a teeny bit small for Mego scale, but it works pretty well.Comment

Since you're cutting up the toy anyway, can you use the gloves and boots too? I mean, are they hollow and can they fit over the Mego figure? Because that would be extra cool!

They are hollow, but they're way too small. The arms are about half the size of a Mego arm. The boots might fit over the feet, although they'd be much too short. I was hoping I could do something with the rest of the figure, but I guess if I ever find another one for cheap that's missing its arms and legs I'll snatch it up.
The point for me with this was to do it how Mego would, and re-purpose existing items. Everything else I am using is repro stuff from Doc Mego. The repro Popy gloves are pretty perfect, which is what first inspired me to do this (admittedly they aren't Mego, but I think they may have "borrowed" them for a line like this).Comment

Oh, and I had posted a want ad here for some vinyl stickers, but I ended getting an old designer friend to whip these up in about 5 minutes with pictures straight from my SW Dragun. Just need to get them to scale and find some vinyl sticker paper and voila!

Yes, they are pretty much the same thing as the Shogun Warrior "gloves," only miniaturized.Comment

Looks great! I have been trying to figure out how to do Mazinger/Tranzor Z Mego custom. I know someone had Black Jack gum dispenser for sale long ago that the Mazinger head looked right scale. Check eBay for little key ring type toys. Since the little figures seem to be of the "super-deformed" type, the heads are usually way over sized.Comment
