Rerooting

I just got a Mego Thor, but hes in need of a good rerooting. Besides whats in the tutorial in the MM's custom section is there any thing I need to know before I attempt my reroot?

The only question I can think of at the moment is what would be the best type of synthetic hair to use. Would blonde hair from a cheap dollar store doll do the job? Or is there anything much better I should use.

It tends to be thick and coarse.... but I've had a lot of luck with cheap wigs from the costume store.

You could go to a beauty supply store and get a hank of Kanekalon hair fiber. It comes in great colors, although nothing too outre, and is relatively easy to reroot with.

As a precaution i think im going to buy a doll, cut its hair, and reroot it to get some practice in. I REALLY dont want to mess him up.

^^^ I tried that orignally with my Thor head and had to redo it, the hair was too short to work with once its doubled over. the longet the better.

A cheap long wig is a better bet than cutting hair from a doll. For natural colors, I usually go to small beauty supply stores and buy what's called a Yaki pony tail. It's probably similar to the kanekalon that Jaida mentioned. It's reasonably priced and the hair is nice and long. They last me quite a while. I also shop from RestoreDoll.com when they run specials for some of the funkier colors.
