How do I get iron ons off?

I'm doing a custom job for a 12 inch mego. I bought a used 1990s Classic collection Gijoe Fireman because he has a nice zip up yellow jumpsuit. Thing is he has an iron on of patches on both sleeves and "Search and Rescue " across his back.

Is there anyway to get iron ons off auniform without ruining it?

Highly unlikely, but if you are willing to trash the item experimenting, heat is the likely answer. You may be able to heat the cloth (possibly from behind) and melt the iron onto paper. Chances are you may not accomplish anything or you will end up with a globby mess than you might be able to peel off. If it works enough to peel off, an oxyclean bath or two might help remove the residue,
