    painting a vinyl head

I have a retro Ghostbusters Janine Melnitz I want to paint the hair on for a custom.
Has anyone tried this? I know certain paints don't work on vinyl but I can't remember which ones.

It's enamels that won't dry on vinyl, so just use acrylic and you should be fine.

Cheap-O Acrylics Might be a ***** ..., and not stick right . Could end your final product as a pasty mess trying to coat 25 times.

For vinyl nothing tops Dupli-color or SEM vinyl coat sprays. You won't regret it! As CrimsonGhost said, never use enamels in vinyl. Only acrylic or lacquer based paints/primers...

Where do you get Dupli-color or SEM vinyl paints? I don't recognize the name but would like to try them out.

You can get vinyl paints at automotive supply places.... especially shops that cater to customizers. Be careful using it though; it's pretty hazardous until it cures.

I've used regular acrylic craft paints directly on vinyl heads and had good results with it. If you're worried about it not sticking, you could use a brush on primer on the section you're going to paint. Model Masters makes an excellent brush on grey acrylic primer that you can get at Hobby Lobby pretty cheap. As a general rule of thumb, I always prime before I paint whenever possible. Paint sticks better.

you could check out http://monsterkolor.ning.com/ as well, I know the guys in the "Art vinyl" scene seem to swear by it anymore.
