    casting heads from bowen statues???

    just thinking out loud here...
has anyone made casts from any statues or would that damage the piece?
I saw a few amazing bowen statues online and that got me wondering about making heads from them.
    maybe that's illegal??
not trying to get anyone in trouble here!

It's been done...but that guy isn't around anymore...
    "Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn"

In the Southeast Pacific, lies the sunken city of R'Leyh. There lies C'thulhu waits to return to our world with the other Great Old Ones. A hideous creature of enormous size and alien power, it waits for it's time to return patiently. For it has all the time in the world while it waits for the stars.

lots of the heads we have available (or did have available) to us came from statues (not necessarily Bowen).

It doesn't hurt the statue at all from what I understand. However, many of the heads are not in Mego scale and either have to be shrunk or enlarged to work...and even then, some sculpting work has to be done around the neck and sometimes other aspects of the face and hair.

From what I understand (I've never done it myself), there is a lot of work involved in turning a statue into a mego head.
