I know I have read posts by some members on here about using Plasti Dip for boots. Does anyone have some tips on that process? I'm kind of experimenting now and trying a few different methods to make them look more like boots or shoes than socks but was just wondering what others out there may have tried and what worked or didn't work for them? Thanks!

What chuck said, but don't get your hopes up. It really doesn't improve the look that much and you lose all ability to pose the ankles. We used to use it a lot when there weren't any repro boots available. I think you would be happier using boot type feet and material. My Custom Figures

True. Instead of dipping the feet try dipping molded boots from other action figures. I used to use those WCW wrestling figures the Kay Bee's and Toy Works stores used to have way back when. That way when you extract it its actually a boot shape and the inside will give room for movement. The same thing with gloves. Use a molded fist lower arm. When you pull it off the arm you have a fist shaped glove. If you use multiple dips it will become thicker and stronger. Gauntlets are pretty easy and super easy to extract. All you need is a tapered mold. A large nail punch style chisel would work well. You just need it to be round and figure out where to trim it to be the correct size. It takes some practice but once you figure out the scheme you can do some easy stuff for short money. It's not a doll it's an action figure.Comment

I've done it in the deep dark past over cloth socks and it worked good and retained articulation. You just have to dip and redip to get rid of the fabric texture. I've gone a different route since then as it got costly and messy. You must try to generate happiness within yourself. So I tried doing some boots with cardboard "insoles" inside the tights before I dipped them. The end result was ok but I'm not happy about the top of the boot. There really isn't a definite line of "this is where the boot stops and the tights/pants start". Still a work in progress. Thanks for all the comments though. No info or suggestion is bad. It's all good and gets me to the next step. I'll keep you posted. Thanks.!Comment

in that case they should work fine, if you're ok with the lack of articulationMy Custom Figures
