    Ideas on arm-wings designs?

Let's just say someone was making a Vulture figure, to go with a certain 8 inch look. Any ideas on how to approach making 'arm-wings' that are sewn to the costume?
Concern that craft art foam sheets will wear and tear too easy.

That's what I was thinking. Just hoping to avoid the sewing.

I did craft foam in two sections so it would still bend at the elbow. I first tried thin vinyl but it was too floppy at the section where it sticks out past the hand.

Thinking about gluing two pieces of craft foam sheets to inside of a thin plastic sheet, and one to the outside. The idea is to get a two row of feathers look to the inside of the wings. Still not sure how to sew this to the costume. Any pics of customs?

I'd suggest checking out how Falcons wings are done , but then make it a little more elaborate.

Here are some various pics from the finished customs section.

Something in the style of Falcon but a little more elaborate if you want mego style.

              SUP-Ronin, Thanks for the photos.
I checked out the Mego's Falcon wing design as advised. Looks like felt. Not bad if the wings fit between the wrist and body. Not so good if the wings extend out from the wrist (i.e. Alberto's design).
almightysuffix's wings look great, but is that construction paper?
Mod Style appears to have used felt, yet it seems to be stiff enough to hold it's shape past the wrists. Spray starch?
Perhaps felt glued to each side of sheet plastic, is a better idea than art-foam sheets.
Thanks everyone for all these ideas.

Now if I had another head like that one, I could redo him.

I don't think anyone used paper. That simply wouldn't hold up, but perhaps craft foam, or vinyl. If you poke around in the school supplies section sometimes 3-ring binders come in colors that you can rob quite a bit of material from. Just cut around the seams and you have it. They're cheap. Also good quality felt (the cheap stuff rips easy) or perhaps thin leather dyed green would work.

I'm going to avoid vinyl as a outside material. I've seen how it wears over time after being sewn to fabric. Thread tends to cut right through it. Green leather would be kick-butt, but cutting and sewing leather is more than I'm ready to take on.
My wife has suggested ribbon wire between two sheets of felt, I'm really considering sheet plastic between two sheets of felt.

At Joann Fabrics, I found a product called "Friendlyfelt'. It's a stiff polyester made from recycled plastic bottles. Come in many colors. I purchased Green and Forest Green. So far, I'm sold!

Felt works well. First sew a thin strip into the arm seam to the waist and once the suit is right side out you can glue the felt wing to the strip. Sewing the wings right into the arm is much harder and you can't really test fit the suit with the wings on/in it.

Any ideas on how to do the hump back of the jet design? I've decided to leave out the tail feathers of the first appearance design.
