Torn Between Projects - Need Opinions.

So, I've started thinking about my next Dida Display carrying cube project.

I have decided on making a Boxing Gym as I'm a huge fan of the sport and have some cool ideas on some props, etc.

Where I need advice is which direction I go with it. I have two separate distinct ideas, both of which are exciting to me, but I'm on the fence.

Option A: "Muhammad Ali's Gym" - predictable, yes, but the idea would be to take the unproduced prototype and run with it. Make it as if Mego would have done it. I could use artwork from the Superman vs Ali comic as well.

Option B: "AJ's GYM" - strange choice? Not to me. As a kid I made all of my mego's box. I had titles and rankings and even drew my own KO Magazine's and fight posters. My brother's owned an ALi but I didn't until adulthood. So my AJ was the champ! This project would pay homage to my childhood, include artwork from my poorly drawn boxing books and follow the same layout as Ali's gym. Only me and my brothers would "get it".

I'm torn. The layout itself would be nearly exact, but I don't know whether the gym should be Ali's or AJ's.

    Your thoughts are welcomed.

I say A.J.'s Gym....nothing against Ali(he was The Greatest) but its childhood homage and that's reason enough IMO....

You can always do another Gym with Ali down the road when you have time and $.

CTVT has released a lot of great gym items(some found only on their Wrestling superstore site) so either way, you'll have fun filling the playset with equipment.

I've been wanting to add a locker room to my Dinah Health Spa set with showers and a steam room. Let me know if you find any usuable locker room type graphics.

I'm confused. Would the difference be in scale? Why not make a boxing gym that you could use for either?

Srytel, the difference isn't the scale but rather how one would tie in to what mego could have done versus a gym with my childhood artwork.

I suppose I could make a generic boxing gym, but I'd prefer to have someone's name tied to it.

Ok, that makes sense. I'd probably try to hedge and make something generic enough that works for both... but when push comes to shove, build the playset based on your childhood designs.

Sounds like you are more passionate about the second choice so I would go with that. Either one sounds great though.

I agree with the the overall opinion that re-creating your childhood memories and obvious passion for it, would def take priority. Option B is a winner

I agree about going with what means more to you.

Thanks guys for the advice. I wouldn't neccessarily say AJ's would mean more than Ali's. I am equally as excited to make the Ali gym that was never made.

I may mock up both and throw up some pics to see which ones you guys think looks better.

I'll definatley post some pics when it's assembled. I also hope to take some better pics of the GI Joe HQ cube as well, but was hoping to finish one last A-Team custom figure first.

Hey BB, This project has Mego all over it!!! Think about it. Almost every Superhero has had a workout scene in their comics. Fan 4 and Batman come to mind for me. It's a COOL playset idea!!! Mego would have done it for AJ them cross marketed it to the other Superheroes. It would have awesome playactions to show off the hero's Superpower. Like a dial on the wall o show how hard Batman punched his punching bag or a big wieght set on a lever. You push down on a tab and The thing on the other side of the wall raised this huge set of Barbells!!! How's about a crossbar where you lock the figures hands in and twist the bar so the figure does gymnastic type actions.
