    Using dixie cups for molds?

    Hey guys,
I'm getting ready to pour some molds tonight. Is it ok to use Dixie cups?
I'm trying to use less mold stuff this time.

Never had a problem with an average-sized head.

Cool, no problem with the cup deteriorating while the mold sits in there?

I think that's what Austin used last year when he did the demo at Mego Meet.

I've always used the Solo brand cups from Walmart. Around 3 ounces, I think. Nice and smooth and CHEAP!

I like the slickness of the Solo cups, but the molds Dave McCormick sent me were all primarily Dixie. No real problems. But I do notice that after the molds have sat in the cups for awhile they can be hard to get out and the Dixie cups are more likely to be crushed/crumpled when you're working to get the mold to come free...

Tim, You should have no issues at all using Dixie style paper cups. Just be sure not to use styrofoam as the mold material sticks to the styro foam and is more of a head ache to unwrap.
