Ok, I wasn't going to show this guy yet, but according to the Post Office, he's been delivered to his new home. So since I haven't seen the recipient post anything about it yet, I have to cave and post a pic of him.

The head is a grey and nearly rock-hard Superman, with the cowl sculpted on from Sculpey Bake-N-Bend. The first couple times I worked on this, I tried to make the head by cutting a Batman head in half and attaching it to the Superman. That didn't work at all.
So I tried to get the sculpted cowl as close to the original Mego version as possible. The Batman side of the suit is made from half of an original outfit, with a plastic belt I made. The Superman side is sewn by me, with the underpants painted on and a piece of elastic for the belt. Both parts of the cape were traced from originals and edged with Fray-Check. The boots, glove, and stickers are all repros. Oh, and I found something that helps a lot when you have to paint hands. I removed the hand/wrist and sanded the joint with some fine sandpaper - not too much, just enough to keep the surfaces from rubbing and still leave room for primer and paint.
