    Custom Project Desired

    Hello,

I've spent a good amount of time looking through the forums and the different galleries posted at the Mego website. I've sent out a few e-mails inquiring about the possibility of a custom job for myself. I guess the head would be what I initially want but eventually the whole deal...body, clothes, package, etc. I do a website for a young actress named Danielle Chuchran and I think the idea of presenting her with a custom doll would be something she would enjoy. She played Thing 1 in "The Cat and the Hat" although you wouldn't know her from the heavy make-up and has done a lot of work in both tv and film. She is 14 years old. Here is the link to her website to give you an idea of who she is and her looks.

    www.daniellechuchran.com

I also wanted to include these pictures. I had this done by an artist for some flash movies I did for her. I think he captured her looks quite well and it's the look I see for the doll more or less.

I'm thinking there seems to be more options with a 12" as oppose to an 8" figure. I know I don't like the molded hair but the blonde hair that you would find on a Barbie doll.

Cost unfortunately is a concern and in reading through the post "How much should you charge for customs?" there seems to be a wide range of prices. I'm hoping with this post people interested will contact me.

    Thanks!

    Wendell

I was thinking the same thing Buk - Jan would be perfect! And inexpensive to boot.

Yes, I see where both of those bodies would work but my main interest is obtaining a custom head that matches the likeness of Danielle not just a generic blonde head with blue eyes.

The most difficult part of a custom is finding the right head. Unfortunately, there are not that many sculptors in this community. We have a few, but most have just started tackling this art.

If I were making it for her, I would use the Jan head and re-style the hair. I would make custom clothing similar to what you posted in the picture (which should not be very hard to do).

Finding someone to sculpt a head from scratch is just going to be your toughest challenge. Most customizers here use exisiting heads and match likeness. There are some other websites that do sculpt heads for 12" figures, but they are quite expensive.

You can get a custom sculpted head or you can get a head with rooted hair. No one sells custom sculpted heads with rooted hair.

You can change the look of an existing head quite a bit just by repainting the eyes and eyebrows. You might find someone to do that for you.

An exclusive custom sculpt is going to cost a lot more than the customs discussed in the pricing thread.

Yeah,.. I dunno Bro, I think that Jan Brady Figure that Buk Posted has some extreme likeness to your actress you posted. I know other people out there, that work built on commissions, like Less Walker or Stephen "Retroprops" , it seems like something they might be able to do for you, if you were not happy with that selection, In which I am kinda confused. With the proper clothing & packaging, you could possibly market that, & make a few of them as well. It looks alot like her imo, with the pics you provided. Thats all I got.
