Alt T1 restring - no leg spread

I've always had a problem with the legs spreading using the regular T1 restringing method - like this.

This is my "fix" - NOTE: I use a thinner elastic string then some others ( I can find anything thicker ) and I double the string over.
1 Start with 2 pieces of elastic about 5.5 inche long ( 11 inches doubled over for the thinner elastic ) and tie a knot at one end.

2 Thread the elastic through the holes from the outside of the leg.

3 Thread the elastic up through the pelvis and tie a knot - snug but not to tight.

4 Continue with the normal T1 method of threading through the arms and up through the neck hole. Start to tie off and check the tightness of the body.

If the tightness seem good pull just a little bit tighter and finish the knot, then release elastic into the body and there is no leg spreading.

If tightness of body is good pull up the excess and trim off.

Looks pretty good, I can't take the head off because it torn the neck plug off in half way!!

I recommended to leave the head alone and I'm always restringing my own idea but thanks for this good pics and infor.

Just curious...did you try going over the middle bar in the butt part instead of under? That usually helps in the legs not doing a "spread". Just a thought.

Ive had a problem with one of mine bending over at the waist. I used the method of going through the neck all the way around and through the neck again. What could be causing this? This is the only T1 ive done that has this problem.

I like that method from your picture magyar1964, i think im gonna try that when I get a chance.

I found that when restringing a T1 body that if the elastic was pulled really tight then it would bend over at the waist. That's why I say to check the elastic tension BEFORE making the final knot.

I got a couple T1 POTA figures I wanna try this out on. They got a bad case of the spreads. Over or under the pelvic support peg doesnt seem to help in these guys case.
              Thanks Mag!!!

Yep, that works great on my T-1 bodies.

But w/o the spread, how do you achieve that heroic stance?

I think this is the problem with the new KISS dolls. I have both the 8 and 12 inch versions and they have that annoying tilt at the waist...they are great repros but that tilt is just very annoying since they tend to lean to the left.

                          I've never restrung a T1 :(
T2 works great on a single stringing with "rings", if you go over the pelvic post, rather than under it. Just pull each cord end out the neck hole and tie off.
I'm sold on rings and elastic cord.

Can you restring a Dinah or female figure with one of the O rings or straight up ordinary rubber bands?

I'm thinking that it would be very difficult to achieve with the legs, because they have that post in the hip part, that is nearly impossible to pry apart.

I was thinking that using elastic cord would work just fine, if I used the double up approach.

fold elastic in center, pass through post in leg, and insert the ends through, pulling tightly.

Then thread the two cut ends over the pelvic post, and through the leg post, out through the center of the pelvis.

Once the proper tension is achieved (no spreads! She's a lady remember!), tie off elastic and voila!

                            I hope.
