Mego Heads size issue and customizing

Ok. This issue has been touched on in past posts but I am hoping to get a broader introspective from the community here. A lot of my time is spent looking for heads and bits for customs. But I have noticed there seems to be a non-uniformity in size in the origial Mego head sizes. This started for me when I won a Jon (Chips) Mego some months ago. When you set him next to other original Mego's. His head is painfully larger. It has been pointed out in the past that the knights have the smallest heads (due to the helmut issue).
So to the point. Has anyone considered catagorizing these different heads sizes Mego produced? My collection of Mego's is too small for me to know whats what.

I really thought there would be some feedback on this issue. I mean the chips helmut must not work on many other Mego's Is the Ponch head also bigger than other Hero heads? I have a bunch of head gear for Mego's. It was only when I got the Jon head that I noted the difference in size.

Hmmmm....

I don't know if there's enough variation for folks to catalog. The CHiPs guys all got huge conkers, and a few of the older figures got small heads but other than that they're all pretty consistent.

....and the CHiPs helmets do fit most other figures; I got a squad of Mego cops that are wearing CHiPs outfits.

The initial Superhero line has heads that are smaller than the Trek heads I noticed.

I wonder where Mr. Fantastic and Invisable Girl fit in to the size issue? I dont own either so I cant compare to other classic hero's. COuld it be that Mego heads became larger as later figures were produced in time???
