    Word Girl

Anyone here have kids who watch Word Girl on PBS? My girls love the show. I can't find any decent toys for the show, so I am thinking of making some Mego scale customs for them! I am thinking of using the 5 inch child body for Word Girl. Does that sound like a good scale for a 5th grader (aprox 5 feet tall?) I would use 8 inch bodies for the adults. Of course I doubt my girls would notice or care, I just like things to be in the right scale when I can do it!

    Is this her?

I've never seen the show, but the character is cute. I like the monkey. You should try sculpting a figurine of him!
Hey! Where's the waiter with the water for my daughter?

Yep, that's her! I'm not so sure about sculpting the monkey, but World Girl without Capt. Huggy Face is like Batman without Robin!

He shouldn't be too hard. Cartoon animals are much easier than human likenesses.
Oh, and I wanted to ask which child body you meant. The repro one that is available is basically a Little Rascals body, and it might be a little thick for her. I had posted this thread not too long ago, looking for help on selecting a body for a custom. It will give you some size reference. Reference request - Our Gang size comparison - Mego Talk

Thanks for that link del! Hmm, I think I like the size, but I wouldn't mind a thinner body. Did you ever find a good body for your project?

My project includes two different child characters. One will look just fine on the child body. I'm still looking for something for the female character, but it has to stand about the same size as the child body. If WordGirl is the only young character, you might have more leeway. The Miss Hannigan doll from Knickerbocker's Annie line is around the same size as Mego Wondergirl. The Annie doll is a little shorter, but she's not as slim. What about Dawn/Dizzy Girl sized dolls? They're fashion dolls, so they'd be slim, and I know they're smaller than Wondergirl. If I think of any other dolls from other lines that might work, I'll let you know.
Here's another thread where I posted a comparison photo of Miss Hannigan and Wondergirl. Possible body for female teen customs - Mego Talk
Someone also mentioned Disney Princess dolls as possible candidates for teen/child-sized character.

I think there were Wendy's happy meal toys. You might find one of the monkey.

You have to post pics when it's done!

You might also have luck with the Monkey by looking at Toys R Us Animal Planet toys- they do jungle packs and safari stuff that is likely to include monkeys and chimps.

Maybe a modified Blythe doll from Littlest Pet Shop would work?

THere was a line of Curious George figures a few years ago, I have one that will become Space Ghost's monkey eventually.
