30 Year Old Mego Mistake... Corrected!

Somehow, when Mego released the Muhammad Ali figure in '76, they forgot to include him in the WGSH assortment. Silly Mego!

Endless thanks to Anthony, aka Toyroom, for helping to correct this glaring oversight. I'd also like to thank my Moonraker Bond for donating his insert in order to allow Muhammad and his headgear to be displayed with maximum awesome.

The pics don't do this box justice. Again, Anthony, you have my most sincere thanks and admiration for exceeding my every expectation about this project!

      You know what?

I not only had the Mego Ali, but had a mint boxed ring as well...including his opponent (who looks more Norton than Frazier to me).

I sold them...but now seeing this excellent box from Anthony (aren't they all excellent?)...I now want to buy another Ali and get that very same box, lol.

      Awesome.

Joe thanks for letting me work on this project! It was a fun change of pace from the traditional super-heroes. Ali seems to fit right in though with the stunning Neal Adams artwork (Joe's idea). Figure looks fantastic!

Wow, you are right, Ali belongs in a box. I have the empty card just collecting dust waiting for a figure. I may scrap that Idea and go with the Toy Room's Ali box. Looks great man.

it'd be cool to have either a 9 inch supes or an 8 inch ali. that woulda been a great 2 pack!!!

If I were better at Internet, I'd have figured out earlier that this post was moved!! Yes, you guys are right... Anthony rocks at boxes!

that woulda been a great 2 pack!!!
Hmmm... ya know, there is an Ali Opponent figure!! Course, I'd have to buy the Opponent and another Ali... no way am I gonna let this box I have now just sit around empty. The more I think about this, the more I like the idea...

                      Ali 2 Pack.... mmmmmmm!!

Myabe someone like Austin or Russ could shrink the Ali head to the 8" scale to make it compatible with the 8" Superman figure...

That Freekin ROOOOOOOOOOOOOCKS!!! Awesome!!!! As a big fan of the Mego Ali doll which is my all time fav I must say that Box Totally Rules!!!

To Bad there isn't a Superman Ali's Size. I can see Anthony creating a Ali vs. Superman box or Card...

You've totaly got my attention Anthony!!

A few (probably dumb) questions from a non customizer...

The only way I can picture this is very funny looking... with the head reduced to an 8" scale, everything else would be way out of proportion... how could I address the body, belt, boxing gloves, robe and shorts?

Mego Ali just wouldn't be Mego Ali without that plush satin robe with his name embrodered on the back... not to mention all his other accessories.
