Restoration advice

I recently obtained a Kid Flash (head and body only). The head had undergone some graying on the face. I also had a Mr Fantastic with gray head disease so I finally got the materials to degray the heads. Mr Fantastic turned out great. Kid Flash, not so much.

Kid Flash's face is now almost white instead of gray. The big problem is his mask is now orange. The yellow wasn't ever really there, but I thought that the organgish cast was due to gray head disease instead of fading.

My question is should I paint the mask back to yellow and the face back to caucasian flesh color or just leave it so that is more original? Keep in mind, the suit, boots and gloves will all be repro parts.

If you're going repro anyhoo, then yeah; I'd probably paint them.

The problem with Kid Flash is that the flesh part under his mask is just painted on. The head is molded in yellow plastic. So was it the flesh part or the yellow plastic that was turning gray?

The flesh part was greying. The mask was an orangish yellow, but after 3 rounds of defeating treatment, it is now more orange than yellow.

I know VERY little about MEGO so take what I say with a grain of salt - but I remember years ago hearing that people were covering their mego heads in plasti-dip, letting it dry and removing it 24 hours later - I guess the red dye in the plasti dip would seep into the plastic and bring a fleshy look back -

Dont try it until someone else chimes in on it though!

Here's the problem: Mr. Fantastic worked because the head is cast in a flesh colored vinyl that has turned grey over time. The red plastidip adds a red tint to the grey and brings the head back to a flesh tone.
Kid Flash was not cast in a flesh colored vinyl, it was cast in yellow and the flesh parts were painted on. If you add red tint to the yellow vinyl, you get orange.

I'd accept that except I used yellow plastidip.

It might actually have been a dye stain in the vinyl. If a red dye had transferred it may have affected the face paint as well. Or if not the paint, it may have darkened the vinyl below and changed the reflected color that way?
Otherwise stumped. But if you're going the repro route, I'd say just make a simple mold and recast it yourself in yellow plastic - will be closer in look to original than any painted yellow you do.

If you're set on repainting,, I'd suggest a Polyscale brand paint, it's micro-ground pigment is thinner with better color coverage and you can pick up a water based acrylic if you want to roll that clock back later.
