Hmmm. Good question! When they were done with snaps I'd say not as much, the snaps had a risk of breaking with too much abuse, but now they are done with special screws. Once the box is assembled it's remarkably sturdy, the chipboard is twice as thick as what Mego used. The carry cube is pretty sturdy, but I don't know how kid friendly the connecting tracks are? They'll stand up to use, but maybe they'd take more finesse to use than your average carrying case? Then again, it's not rocket science.
