Replacement 12" knee pins

Have any of you guys replaced 12" Mego knee pins using Doc's repros? Is there a trick to it I'm not getting? They seem to not fit all the way through and attach, although they attach together just fine when they aren't going through the knees. It's almost like they're not long enough, but I know this isn't the case. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Try a pair of short pliers and squeeze. That's what did it for me.

They have to 'click' together in order to stay put.

Either that, or use a hammer to whack it in good.

Just don't hit hard enough to break the leg.
