I've got some laying around the house but only enough to tease me into making part of a box.

I have bought up a bunch of Lego's here and there during my many thrift store adventures. You may want to try there and garage sales for some good buys. I cannot beleive how high these things got in the stores.

Cool, I got me a little Lego box for the mold. Just discovered I sculpted my heads in the wrong kind of clay. Rats. Oh well, good practice: )

Tim, Maybe not all is lost. I would hate to see that you did that nice sculpt of yours in vain. I believe that you should be able to still make a mold of it by using Alumilites mold maker or an equivelant.

The clay sculpt may end up trashed in the end, but at least you will have the mold as a copy of the original and from it you can cast many copies.

The problem is that I sculpted it with the clay included in the Alumilite kit, which apparently is just there to help you with molds. Apparently it would be difficult because it would stick to the clay used to hold the head in place while making the 2 piece mold.

You could try suspending it with wires or somesuch and filling the mold halfway.

Hmmmm... I think I'm gonna try that. With a firm expectation of unintentionally destroying it: )

Cool Tim! Glad to hear that you went for it. In an absolute worst case scenario you would loose the sculpt either way.

At least at this rate you stand a chance to gain a mold of your sculpt. Fingers crossed for you. Let us know how it all turned out.

                      vaseline does wonders.

hey I did it! I looked at the mold this morning and I don't think it turned out half bad.
I'll try a casting when I get home tonight... what is vaseline used for when casting and making molds jessica?

I bought some Sculpey a few days ago. I really suck! I'm trying to do a Vampira head, but can't get it. I'm making nothing but a mess.

Is there a difference between regular Sculpey and Super Sculpey?

Maybe I should do a bust instead, as it would be bigger. Everytime I use my tools, I screw everything up though.

Apparently so, but I think it has more to do with curing than sculpting. What sort of problems are you having?

Question, how do you get a shiney finish like Doc Mego's resin heads?
