1/6 scale Robin Hood shirt?

Slightly OT, but I'm working on a 1/6 Robin Hood. I've made him green tights (out of an old USMC T shirt), almost finished with a sueded green vest. I'm going to go with brown lace up boots, but I'm stumped on a shirt for under the vest. I made a lime green pullover shirt with dagged 1/2 sleeves but don't like the look.

Any opinions or advice? Nothing too fancy, my sewing skills aren't all that great.

You'll have to post photos of what you want to accomplish. I can't imagine what you are trying to portray.

Go with a collared pullover with muttonleg sleeves, and make sure to flare the vest like a doublet; especially at the shoulders.

Oooo!! Those are easy to make in 1:6 scale. The secret would be finding material that hangs correctly, but if you get something that is an interlock knit, it will not unravel and you can clip the edge of the sleeves with very sharp scissors. Basically it's just a t-shirt.

Lots of womens shirts are now using this type of material. It's quite thin and hangs well, and it feels cool to the touch. It could be poly rayon...can't remember exactly.

Thanks for the Errol Flynn photos, Thunderbolt. I was going to look around today when I got home from work, but you beat me to it.

Jessica, that's close to the look I want, but I don't want to copy it exactly. Specially since I'm almost done with his vest. It will lace up all the way in front, and the sleeves don't have that crenelated look. I don't know what else to call it, reminds me of crenelations on castle walls.

How about microsuede? It's a knit type of fabric, isn't it?

I have a microsuede body pillow cover, and it's wonderful.

Of course, you could use a reaaaallly thin suede for the vest itself, but it might be a bit futzy to work with.

I used microsuede ( I think) for the vest. Fuzzy on one side, looks like a real tight knit on the other. I'll try to take some photos either tonight or tomorrow.

I don't have any really thin suede, but I have some smooth leather that's incredibly thin. About the thickness of an index card. Called skiver, I believe.

The edges of the sleeves are just tabs sewn in place. What other look are you trying to accomplish? If sewing is not your forte, you can even glue the tabs down with fabric glue underneath the cap sleeve.

Here's what I have so far.






The plan is to run small eyelets to waist length down the front. Hmmm. Maybe shorten the sleeves and add the tabs? Should I try to hem the edges of the tabs?

I had to do that last pic of the head, doesn't he just have that perfect smirk for Robin Hood?

If I remember right, his head is from a 12" Hunter Dan type figure from Cabella's sporting goods catelog. I put the head on a Dragon body, if you look close where the neck joins the body you can see I didn't do a very good job. I should have sanded the neck rather than use an Exacto blade.
