    Baking Sculpey

What's the proper temperature for baking Sculpey?

I bake at 260 for 20 minutes, and I use a dedicated convection oven outside.

Mrs. TBolt found me a toaster oven with a timer, so its usually 275 for 10 minutes, depending on the size. I also put a aluminum foil tent over it to prevent burning/bubbling on the top.

I once baked it ONTO an animatronic Halloween doll by proping it in front of a tiny ceramic heater .

              Hmmmm....

If you can. I'd go the toaster oven route. Get an old one to use EXCLUSIVELY for Sculpey.... that way you don't have to worry about varying times and temps once you get it where you like it; or poison fumes.

I'm the oddball here as I boil my sculpey. Almost without exception I'm doing alterations on a resin head, so the boil method works well and rarely takes more than five minutes.

I've tried Magic Sculpt and found it to be too pliable. It's soft and gummy and is not user-friendly. Now, I can't sculpt worth a crap, so that may play a major part in my difficulty.
I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.

If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.

I boil my sculpey in water. I bought a dedicated sauce pot and never use it for food. The time I boil is in line with what Random Axe said. Sometimes when I turn off the gas I let it sit till the water gets a little cooler.
