    Casting help???

    Hi,

I want to make a mold and cast a belt or two and was wondering what is the best type of material to used to cast it? I would need something that could either be dyed or painted but flexible enough to wrap around a figure.

    Any thoughts?

I would try Alumisol, it's a meltable, felxible polyurathane resin that can by dyed with the the colours from alumalite, you can see some videos of it being used on thier website, the only other option you have is to make a resin mould of the belt and cast it in silicone rubber, if you use white or clear you can dye it with oil paints,

Hope that gives you some ideas

I made my brown Sherlock Holmes hat in a a cement mold with latex rubber. I dyed it by mixing craft paint in with the latex.

It would work with belts too.

I'd like to try out that Alumisol. Have to go check them out thanks!

Latex is good and quick to work with but it does have a limited life (I found this the hard way),but with silicone or polyurathane it will last much longer thats why I have moved on to other materials
